Yes, the Home Studio Surface is designed to be used on carpet. Many clients also place their Home Studio Surface on tile, concrete, and hardwood.
For ideal performance, the floor you’re placing the Surface on should be flat within 1/8″ across the space.
Spaces with high-pile or unevenly-treaded carpeting, or subfloors that are not flat within the above specifications, may see additional give in the seam and/or lift at the corners. Our clients typically report that this does not significantly affect the functionality or their enjoyment of the Surface.
Many of our clients who use their Surface on concrete and tile have placed a layer in between the existing flooring and their surface, either for additional shock absorption while dancing, or for protecting the existing floor. Gym mat rubber and yoga mat material are commonly used.
Yes. The Home Studio Surface can be taken apart and stored, or moved to a new space, just like any piece of quality furniture that you have invested in for your home, lifestyle, or business.
The Home Studio Surface is designed to give you a professional studio experience in your home dance space without renovations — an investment you’d most likely lose when you move.
If you are in need of an "all-in-one" stage setup that you can bring along to travel gigs (e.g. fits inside most cars), we recommend the X-Stage or X-Stage Lite.
Installation is quite easy. One or two adults can assemble and re-assemble the surface.
You will need a power screwdriver to open your shipment. Always inspect contents; don't sign for a damaged item. You will need a 7/32″ hex or Allen key (5mm can also work), which will be included in your shipment.
When you receive your shipment, have another person assist you with transferring your flooring sections into your home or studio space. Store the panels in a climate-controlled area lying flat, until you're ready for assembly. Assembly can often be done by one person, but is usually easier with two. Each 4×8 piece weighs approximately 54 lbs.
You’ll want to check out our IGTV channel and our YouTube channel for the assembly demo video & other how-to videos.

Where can I put the base of the pole?
8x8 Surfaces: Most clients place the pole near the center so that all sides of the pole have equal floor space. Place the pole 8-12 inches off the center if you prefer a larger floorwork section. This will give you at least one, if not two, clear diagonals (over 10 feet).
8x12 and larger surfaces: For maximum floor space on all sides of your pole(s), place the edge of the pole base at least 24 inches from the outside edges of your surface.
The Home Studio Surface is built to accommodate adjustable-height tension-mounted poles of every size and brand.
The Surface works very well with bottom-loading adjustable poles, including both removable and permanently-mounted designs, such as X-Pole, Platinum Stages, and Lupit Pole.
The Surface's design does not accommodate poles that require screws, adhesives or other external fasteners that fix the base of the pole to the floor beneath. Do not drill, bolt, or screw into your Home Studio Surface as this may compromise the structural integrity of the item and will void the limited warranty.
Great question! With proper care, your Surface can last a lifetime.
When you receive your shipment, remove the plastic protective cover before you put on edge guards and dance floor tape. Wipe off panels with a soft cloth to remove any dust. Wipe down the finished side of surface gently with a damp (not soaked) cloth, and allow to air dry.
Always keep your surface DRY, especially the seams, edges, and locks.
Here are some more tips to protect your investment:
- Sweep regularly
- Use pole shoes or footwear with a soft sole
- Remove any dark scuffs with a soft dry cloth or tennis ball
- Avoid spilling liquids on the surface and dry immediately if any occur
- Spot-clean small areas where sweat or grip products may be left behind, by using a soft cloth with a cleaning product approved for laminate surfaces (check the label)
- WD-40 can be used inside locking mechanisms as needed if they are sticky or squeaky
- To clean the entire surface, do not “wet mop” but instead moisten a cloth or pad, wringing out excess fluid first, then clean and dry as normal
- Small chips can be repaired, and center seam(s) can be smoothed, with your favorite dance floor tape
- Do not drill or nail into your surface. This is will void the limited warranty and is likely to damage the laminate, the core material, and/or the structural integrity of the panel
- Matte finish spray, available online or at your favorite hardware store, can be used to reduce glare or tackiness of glossy laminate surfaces
SOME FINE PRINT: This product was designed by pole dancers, so it has been created to withstand the force of some shoe impact. However, we caution you to be mindful of *excessive* force, which could scratch, crack or puncture your surface.
